welcome back to another friday five post. you may have noticed i missed last week—that was intentional! i won’t have one every single week, just when enough things stuck out to me over the last week to compile into a post. i love how these posts have been making me a little more intentional about noticing the little things that make my days feel fuller.

1. linen wedding guest dress

i ordered this dress for an upcoming wedding and i was so surprised by how perfect it is. 100% linen with a cotton lining so it feels thick and amazing quality. fits me like a glove! i love how the top is a little more fitted—not a corset top but almost has that effect with how its fitted and flares out just slightly by the waist, it’s so flattering on. the adjustable straps are a huge win for me too, as a short girl i find straps are often way too long on me! i feel like this would be so easy to dress up for an event, or dress down for more everyday wear.

2. first aid beauty scrub

i have been using this scrub recently and loving it. as we approach the summer, i’ve been putting a little more effort into my body care, trying to get smooth, even skin tone and texture. i love this scrub because it combines both physical and chemical exfoliation—which helps a lot if you have kp (keratosis pilaris, aka chicken/ strawberry skin) which i have a bit on my arms. i’ve been noticing a difference when i use this consistently, so i plan to keep it up for the summer.

3. yesteryear

definitely the book of the spring! i had seen yesteryear by caro claire burke everywhere, and finally took the plunge and picked it up. the premise hooked me immediately—yesteryear follows the story of a modern day trad wife influencer suddenly wakes up in 1855. i will say, the book did not go at all how i expected it to. it was so so different from what i initially had in mind but i was instantly hooked and absolutely devoured this book.

i’m hesitant to say too much because i don’t want to spoil!

4. project hail mary

late to the game on seeing this absolutely brilliant film, but oh my goodness—project hail mary is new favourite for sure. just wow. i’m calling it now: this will be my favourite movie of 2026. it’s going to be incredibly hard to beat.

i laughed and cried more times than i can count. it was perfect from start to finish. my husband watched it with our friends—his brother j, and j’s wife, m (aka my BIL and SIL… it always feels strange referring to people who are both friends and family). initially, m was hesitant because she hates space movies, but honestly, this isn’t really a space movie at all. it’s so much more than that—an incredibly heartwarming story that just happens to take place in space. so if you also tend to avoid space films, don’t let that deter you. we all ended up absolutely loving it.

5. my basic smoothie recipe

i drink this smoothie almost every. single. day. and i have for months. it’s incredibly basic but so delicious. i never get sick of it, i still look forward to tomorrows morning smoothie every night. to me, this tastes almost like a strawberry cookie/ lowkey kind of like a waffle cone? it comes together with just 5 simple ingredients, and i put them in this order:

• frozen sliced strawberries—i get sliced so they blend up easier, and i do about 1/2 cup

• milk— i use fairlife 2%, enough to almost fully cover the strawberries

• 1 (heavy handed) tablespoon of almond butter— small but mighty, makes a big difference! my fav one is the brand barney butter.

• 1.5 scoops good protein vanilla milkshake protein powder—seriously the only protein powder i’ve ever liked. as a certified protein powder hater, this is huge.

• ice—because i like a thick, creamy, almost ice cream consistency!

• i top it off with the smallest splash of milk because i find it helps to blend it perfectly without losing that ice cream texture.

best enjoyed in my favourite jar. as a jar girl these ones actually are worth the hype.

welcome back to my friday five, episode two. there is something so comforting about looking back on a week through the small things and moments that filled it. not usually the big moments(those are few and far between most weeks), but the little details i kept returning to—a new candle, a dessert i already can’t wait to make again, a photo i saved on my nightly scroll, or a piece of writing that lingered in my head for a little while.

these posts feel like opening my notes app to you, or inviting you into the mundane moments held at home. i love reading these types of posts, and it’s so fun letting you peek into the corners of my week.

1. recent read

daisy darker by alice feeney—it’s been so incredibly cool, overcast and rainy the past week or two here in nova scotia, and this book has been the perfect companion. i’ve been on an alice feeney kick lately, so it’s no surprise i decided to pick up another of her books. daisy darker took me a little longer to get into, but a little ways in i really started to get hooked. without saying too much, it’s about a family that are all reunited at their family home on a piece of land that becomes inaccessible when the tide comes up. a huge storm rolls in, and family members keep turning up dead. it’s the perfect mystery read for the moody weather we’ve been having—i love when what i’m reading lines up with the atmosphere.

2. perfect basic tank

these zara tanks — i bought the black and the white, tempted to get the pink aswell… i love the fit, they’re a nice thick cotton that holds its shape well. i love the added detail of the picot edge on the neckline and bottom trim, and i love that the waistline is slightly dropped in the front instead of just being a regular straight seam. those details make basics feel a little more elevated.

3. comfort show re-watch

my pretty little liars rewatch—what’s better than sinking into a great new tv show? sinking into an old one with 20+ episodes per season. they just don’t make em like they used to. pretty little liars has been a favourite of mine since it released on tv back in 2010. they put the show back on netflix late last year some time, but for some reason despite being such a cozy show for fall, i always find myself craving a rewatch in the spring.

4. walking shorts

nike running shorts — while i know cute will be very subjective when describing these shorts, i think they’re very flattering and cute! i got a green pair and a blue pair. i think once you see my outfit inspo hopefully the vision makes more sense.

i’ve been looking to make my walking clothes a little more chic, because i am so motivated by cute outfits. looking put together leads to me feeling my best, so i’m gradually working on my “out for a walk” wardrobe. it’s been a struggle to find warm weather friendly walking fits! i feel like it’s so much easier in the fall and winter with leggings and barn coats to rely on, or when in doubt wearing a big puffer coat that covers the whole outfit anyway.

5. mini bubble dress

this bubble mini dress — i just got this in the mail (hence the wrinkles) and i’m obsessed. it’s so so soft, comfortable and light! i think it will be perfect to throw on over a bikini when heading to the beach. it’s lined and sewed in so it doesn’t feel like it’ll blow around too much and show things you don’t want shown. i bought the blue and now they have a red which i’m tempted to pick up as well!

wanted to start a little series here on boring things—my friday five. i thought it would be fun to share a little collection—of thoughts, of things, of moments, whatever. maybe not each and every friday, but whenever i’ve gathered a few lovely things to share. the small and beautiful things making my days feel a little brighter lately. or maybe a few thoughts i’ve been sitting on the past week. or a collection of books that fit a vibe; i plan to let this little series develop naturally without strict borders.

i’ve always loved reading these kinds of posts myself. there’s something so fun about peeking into everyones world online—seeing the little things they’re loving, using, collecting, wearing, drinking, carrying, etc. i’m so nosy (in the least creepy way), and easily influenced into trying new products so these posts are always so fun for me.

I. roll neck knit

II. strawberry shortcake biscuits

this strawberry shortcake biscuit recipe — the perfect spring treat. i tweaked the recipe ever so slightly by adding a tiny bit of sugar and splash of vanilla into the biscuit dough. it doesn’t make them too sweet, just enough to add a little more dimension to the biscuit flavour. i’ve made them exactly as written in the recipe as well and they’re delicious either way.

III. spring body mist

the rare beauty find comfort body mist — citrusy, bright, a little earthy and sweet. the perfect light summer scent, and actually lasts well on the skin and clothes! 4x the points at sephora on fragrance with code BESTSCENTS. i want to try the blue body mist next to see if it’s just as delicious.

IV. favourite home scent

book loft home fragrance — this fragrance is my ultimate favourite home scent. i have the candle, the hand soap, the wallflower refills, and next on my list is the room spray. it’s so hard to describe scent so you’ll have to take my word, its the perfect gentle, slightly woodsy, slightly sweet, fresh and clean smell. to me it just reminds me of the smell of a spring day after a fresh rainfall. it doesn’t necessarily smell like that (i feel like nothing does) but it has the same vibe.

V. striped summer dress

blue striped summer dress — i feel like i’m kind of cheating by including this because i just ordered it myself, but as soon as i saw this striped dress i fell in love. i know this will be worn on repeat this summer, its the perfect colour, i love the stripes, the smocked top and ruffled hem. it looks so flowy and ties in the back to be a little bit adjustable.
